All about our vicar

Ian Rumsey

Ian Rumsey

Ian, Colleen and their two teenage sons moved to Macclesfield when Ian was appointed Vicar of HTH in 2004. Ian is “still amazed to have been asked to lead such a wonderful church”. He hails from a village just outside Cambridge and spent his early working life as a slightly bewildered seismologist. After ordination Ian served in a number of churches in Cumbria, handily placed to allow him to indulge his love of the fells. He has grand ideas to spend his fifty first birthday astride the summit of Mont Blanc. He has never lost his childhood love of football and Scalextric, wishes he was better at woodwork and the saxophone than he is, and reckons one day he might have the courage to preach from Romans.

Ian says faith for him is still an adventure and that the Lord continues to surprise, chastise and encourage. Ian’s passion for the church is that it grows to be more and more Jesus-shaped, a grace-community of people loved into life and signed up to God’s transformation business, where the struggler finds hope and where young and old alike are resourced to serve their Lord and their neighbour.
