History of HTH FC
The team was formed in 1998, playing friendlies against a few local churches whom we knew also had active football teams. As a result of these friendly matches and other contacts, the SMCCFL was formed and HTHFC were one of the six teams who played in that first season of the new league, 1999-2000.
HTH have a football team which plays in the South Manchester and Cheshire Christian Football League (SMCCFL).
This season (2019/20) the league consists of 28 teams across three divisions of 9 teams, 9 teams and 10 teams respectively. All clubs/teams in the league represent local churches and Christian organisations in the Cheshire and Greater Manchester area. This season HTHFC is in Division 2 and will play 16 league matches as well as the matches for the League’s Cup competition. Matches are played on Saturday mornings with a 10.30am kick off and supporters are always welcome. Home games will usually be played this season at Victoria Park, Fence Avenue.
The team is made up of a core of players from HTH, with players from a few other churches and our friends who have joined the Football Club over the years. We are always on the lookout for new players who are over 16 years old.
About the SMCCFL
The SMCCFL is for football teams from church or Christian organisations. The matches are competitive and of a good football standard but always played fair and friendly which makes our Christian league different to secular football leagues. One of the stated aims of SMCCFL is to use football to spread the Good News through contact with people who wouldn’t normally go to church. Each team has some players without church connections and we aim to be a good witness to them. For some of the teams in the league, the football team is a central part of their church’s community and outreach work with older teenage boys and young men.
