Alice

Alice has been our Community Programme Assistant Minister since June 2024. She's previously been an intern with us, and has been part of HTH since 2017.
Where were you brought up?
I've always lived in Macclesfield since I was born in 1998.

What were you like at school?
Studious, with some great teachers who really helped me. I especially enjoyed practical lessons like art and sports; I once got two rounders in one run. At my primary school I was the only girl on the football team.

Some of your favourite things?
  • Reading
  • Being on the beach and in forests
  • Sun, sea, and snow
  • Cooking and baking
  • Watching the Olympics - I get so engrossed

What are you doing in your new role?
  • Working in the community, meeting people and building relationships, becoming a more regular presence on the estate.
  • A focus for me is ministry amongst older people: supporting them by making regular befriending calls and listening to them.
  • Building up relationships by seeing needs and looking for ways we can meet these through new ideas and opportunities.
  • Showing the love of Jesus through actions and words.

Favourite verse in the Bible?
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2. To me, this means:
  • Wanting what God has for me, not what the world dictates.
  • Living counter-culturally.
  • Living for, and serving, God and those around me.
  • Being transformed from the inside out.

Favourite woman in the Bible?
Ruth: an ordinary, humble woman of steadfast faith, who followed God and His will for her, trusting that He would provide for her, and willingly serving people around her.
