Where were you brought up?
In Chester. I and most of my friends shared an alley between our houses so we spent most of our childhoods there playing football or whatever we could get our hands on. I can promise we didn’t cause much of a nuisance! When we were old enough to go on our own, we did switch to the park across the road. What were you like at school? Surprisingly I was quite quiet (I know, shocker). I was very active so my favourite subject was always PE. It even led me to an amazing, albeit brief, period playing in the Women’s Handball Premier League where I got absolutely battered and bruised. It was great! That was all down to my PE teacher pushing me to join a handball club after playing it during a class. Apart from PE, the subjects I took further and still enjoy studying today in my free time were History and Philosophy & Ethics, so if you want a relatively nerdy conversation on the Russian revolution or the meaning of life give me a shout! What are you doing in your new role? In short, I am here to love people. At the moment I am just building relationships on the estate. This includes going into Hurdsfield school once a week to meet with children and parents and find ways to support them. You may see Alice and I wandering around the estate on a Wednesday and Thursday, not slacking off but finding opportunities to meet people and get ideas on the work we can do in the future. Favourite woman in the Bible? It has to be Martha. She knows that the most important thing is Jesus’ presence and she seeks it. She sought a close relationship with him amidst the distractions of trying to host. Now that is something that I want to strive to be like. Plus how cool would it be to sit down and just chat with Jesus face to face? |
